Techno Thriller | 21st Century Hackers

It's 5:00 am in New York City and for the past hour I have noticed that Google is down. By roughly 6:30 am Amazon, the New York Times and ESPN.com are dead. Facebook goes down an hour later. By 8 am the trains in New Delhi have all stopped and air traffic control from Norway to the Mediterranean have been taken out leaving hundreds of flights unattended. At 10:53 am every traffic light in Manhattan turns green. London reports that the medical records in 160 hospitals have been deleted. Customers whose last name begins with letter M report that their bank accounts have been wiped clean across 12 different banks. By 4 pm China has denied involvement as is Pakistan. Iran was in the midst of denying it when their diplomatic phone lines went dead. It’s now 6:08 pm I tune in the TV to World View at CNN, which is the only remaining media house. Bernard is finishing up on a story where an Airbus A340 and a Boeing 767 had collided in the foggy east African sky. Suddenly the screen flickers twice and goes dark. CNN is down. By 7:26 pm the globe goes dark. The worldwide power grid has been taken out and there is no way it's coming back. The world is Silent.

If the internet was taken out this would only be worse. It would be worse than anything we have ever faced. It would be worse than the 3rd world war. It would be the end of civilization.

So why haven’t some script kiddie done it? Well, it’s just a matter of time before they do and we need to be ready before that time comes.
