THE CMD SERIES
Welcome to the CMD series by Castynet.
Did you know that a computer has two different interfaces:
- The Graphical User Interface (GUI)
- The Command Line Interface (CLI)
1.The Graphical User Interface (GUI)
This is a user-friendly layout of the computer. It comprises of images, icons, menus, and windows that have represented or simplified the commands of a computer to make it easier for a user who is not a geek to be able to use the computer.
This interface is used by modern day operating systems.
Initially, commands were typed into the DOS using the keyboard so as to run whatever functionality you wanted.E.g you could not just tap on "shutdown" to in order to shut down a PC instead you had to input a command for that.
This interface is important as it makes it easier to operate a computer without the stress of remembering so many commands.
However, it may make users a bit lazy (just kidding).
Some perfect examples are Windows 8,10 etc.
2.The Command Line Interface (CLI)
Now, this is where the Computer hides its power...
The Command Line interface can be defined as a text-based interface that is used to operate a computer while allowing the user to respond to visual prompts by typing single commands into the interface and receiving a reply in the same way.
In the CMD series, we are going to simplify the command prompt for you and enable you also to enjoy the experience.
There are two command lines we will discuss DOS and Linux command prompt.
First, we will start with windows as it is the most popular operating system in the world.
So stay tuned, Tell a friend to tell a friend to be checking castynet.co.ke every Wednesday for an update.
CHEERS!
