Soon after the shooting of the movie a 2.5 billion reshoot of Justice league was to be done and since in the first shoot he had no mustache then it was logic that he could not have mustache in the reshoot. DC universe could not just release a movie where superman has some mustache in some parts and none in others. Simply he would have been requested to shave but he declined. This had to be done using AI. His mustache was edited out though those who know him  well could still notice some editing.
